Samantha Messer Joins STU Tommies for 24-25 Season
Fredericton, NB, STU Athletics is thrilled to announce the addition of a highly versatile volleyball player from New Maryland, New Brunswick, to the Tommies family. Samantha Messer, a standout athlete from Fredericton High School and the Reds Volleyball Club, will be joining the team with a primary focus on playing as an outside hitter.
Throughout her volleyball career, Sam has showcased skills in various positions, including middle, libero, and outside hitter, highlighting her adaptability and commitment to the sport. Samantha brings a unique blend of versatility and the ability to step in wherever needed. Known for her leadership and positivity, Samantha is a dedicated teammate and is driven by a passion for continuous development as a player.
When asked why St. Thomas University, Samantha expressed a deep appreciation for the opportunity to make meaningful connections with professors and fellow students and to actively engage in her educational journey. "I look forward to growing academically and personally and experiencing all the best that university life has to offer. I believe St. Thomas will provide all those opportunities and more."
Academically, Samantha is keen on pursuing studies in psychology. Outside of the classroom and the volleyball court, she has demonstrated a commitment to helping others through participation in the Best Buddies program and involvement with Kats Kitchen.
The excitement to rejoin Coach Kim, who played a pivotal role in Samantha's development during their time with the Reds Club program, is palpable. "I am so excited to play for Kim again. She was vital in the development of my abilities when I played for her in the Reds Club program, and I’m looking forward to excelling and developing further under her strong leadership and coaching again. She was instrumental in my decision to play for STU," Samantha stated.
"Sam is a great teammate and leader, on and off the court. I've always been impressed with Sam's athleticism, versatility, and work ethic. We're very excited to be welcoming Sam to our team" said Kim Colpitts.
