STU Volleyball Welcomes Hometown Talent: Nessa Quigley
Fredericton, NB - STU Athletics is excited to announce the addition of Nessa Quigley to the women’s volleyball team, hailing from Fredericton, New Brunswick. Nessa plays both left and right side, bringing with her a strong background and commitment to the sport.
Nessa spent four years with the FHS Black Kats and developed her skills in the REDS volleyball program, showcasing a competitive mindset and a positive attitude that will make her a valuable asset to the Tommies. Her passion for volleyball and dedication to her teammates are qualities that align perfectly with Tommies team culture.
“I bring a competitive mindset, a positive attitude, and a strong commitment to being my teammates' biggest supporter. Playing for a coach who shares this supportive approach will enable me to continue learning and thriving with an exceptional team. My passion for the sport and drive to succeed will not only enhance my own performance but also contribute to the team’s overall motivation and success.”
Raised in Fredericton, Nessa grew up watching student-athletes pursue their passions with the support of their community. Inspired by those experiences, she has chosen STU to continue her academic and athletic journey, returning home after spending her first year at Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU), where she also played volleyball.
“I always felt like a chunk of me was missing while I was away. I’ve realized that the missing piece was home. After a year away, I know that STU is the best decision I could’ve made. The school seems incredible, and the community and support I’ve felt since making my decision have validated exactly what I imagined it would be for me. I can’t wait to make so many amazing memories on and off the court with my new STU teammates!”
Nessa, besides playing volleyball, also enjoys nature, hiking, and playing pickleball and tennis with her family. Growing up, she was involved in various sports, with soccer being another passion alongside volleyball.
“I have known Coach Kim for a number of years and have the utmost respect for her as a coach. She was my REDS coach during part of COVID and brought positivity during those challenging months. I cannot wait to see what greatness she will create this year, and I’m so thankful to be part of it.”
An interesting tidbit is that Nessa has a twin sister, Ava Quigley, who plays volleyball for the UNBSJ women’s team. It’s a unique experience to compete against her sister, and she’s proud to see Ava out there, even if it might confuse a few spectators!
St. Thomas Women's volleyball team is thrilled to welcome such a dynamic player to the Tommies family and looks forward to an exciting season ahead.
